Germany salary calculator 2026 — gross to net
Estimate your 2026 German net salary from gross pay, including wage tax and employee social insurance, then see what remains after expenses, savings and investments.
Standard profile: Tax Class I, no church tax, statutory insurance, childless age 23+, outside Saxony. Automatic mode is limited to salaries above €2,000 per month.
Germany Brutto-Netto estimate for 2026
The Germany engine uses the official BMF 2026 payroll algorithm through the pinned lohnsteuerrechner implementation, together with 2026 employee social-insurance rates and contribution ceilings. It is intended as a Brutto-Netto planning estimate for the standard profile shown above.
The calculator then lets you add your own monthly costs, savings and investments. This helps turn a gross-to-net salary figure into a practical view of disposable money rather than stopping at the payroll result.

How to use the Germany gross-to-net calculator
- Enter gross salary in euros and choose monthly or annual frequency.
- The calculator estimates wage tax and employee social-insurance contributions for the supported 2026 standard profile.
- Add your real monthly housing, debt, living costs, savings and investments.
- Use the resulting balance to understand what your Brutto salary may leave after both payroll deductions and personal commitments.
Standard profile used
The automatic engine is built around Tax Class I, no church tax, statutory health insurance, a childless employee aged 23 or over, and residence outside Saxony. It uses the average statutory-health additional contribution stated in the methodology. Different tax classes, children, Saxony, church tax, private insurance or a different Krankenkasse contribution can change net pay.
Common Germany salary questions
Which tax class does the calculator use?
Tax Class I. Other tax classes can produce materially different payroll results.
Is church tax included?
No. The standard profile assumes no church tax.
Are health, pension, unemployment and care insurance included?
Yes, employee social-insurance contributions are included for the supported standard statutory-insurance profile.
Why does automatic mode stop at lower salaries?
German mini- and midijobs have special contribution rules. Rather than pretend the ordinary calculation is accurate, the site switches to manual mode at or below the stated threshold.
Is this the same as my exact payslip?
No. It is a planning estimate using a defined standard profile. Your insurer, tax class, family situation and other payroll details can change the actual result.
For the precise assumptions and official German sources, see the methodology.
